Targeted and Intensive Supports for Academic Concerns- Achieve, Behave, Belong

July 20, 2021 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Free

This training is divided into five sessions and designed to guide educators in developing and implementing a systematic, multi-tiered intervention process to address students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs in a targeted, timely, and directive manner. Pursuant to this end, participants will learn to:

Identify essential academic standards, behavioral expectations, and social-emotional competencies to be universally taught to all students.

Use a Problem Solving Process to identify and respond to students’ lagging academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills.

Establish processes and practices for developing and implementing intervention plans to target students’ lagging skills.

Collect and evaluate data in order to provide intensive support for students who demonstrate significant or chronic lagging skills.

To achieve these learning objectives, participants will be expected to reflect on their current RtI/MTSS processes and practices with the intent of identifying both strengths and limitations of their current systems. After learning about an integrated and responsive approach to teaching academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills, participants will be expected to consider the systematic and cultural shifts necessary to create a learning environment in which all students achieve, behave, and feel a sense of belonging at school. Resources to support the learning objectives and facilitate the training activities will be provided to all participants.
